In the second episode of “Itsuka, Hero,” titled “Unsung Heroes,” Akamatsu, a former orphanage worker, reunites with one of his former students, Yukari, and decides to track down the remaining four to return a time capsule they buried 20 years ago. Meanwhile, a mysterious man named Hyoudou discovers the death of a young soccer player, Yuuki, who had written about his dream of becoming a hero in the time capsule. Hyoudou retrieves Yuuki’s phone and ID, finding messages from Yukari about Akamatsu’s return and his plan to reunite everyone. Hyoudou sees Akamatsu as a threat to his plans and decides to eliminate him.
Akamatsu, now living with an old acquaintance, receives a video from Yukari showing a homeless man with a distinctive burn scar, who turns out to be another former student, “Nono” (Wilderman Koutarou). Despite Yukari’s warning that Nono might hate Akamatsu, he sets out to find him. After days of searching, Akamatsu finally locates Nono living in a cardboard box. Although Nono coldly rejects him, Akamatsu refuses to give up and devises a plan to win him over.
